for dad, but also for everyone
Baba’s House is an immersive, multipurpose community & gathering space located in the Central Artery district of Oakland, California. It serves as a representation and celebration of the Asian-American diaspora and the experience of growing up Asian American in the Bay Area. The space hosts a plethora of numerous types of events highlighting art, music, food, and drink both local and abroad.
The original branding was created by friend & fellow designer Kishanti Orozco as well as many other friends of the community contributing bits and pieces to create an eclectic system to work with. The logotype, color palette, typefaces and cat illustrations were inherited, but for the last few years - yours truly has had the pleasure and honor of taking stewardship of those components and progressing them along. Some highlights of this ever-evolving project involve: designing/implementing a new upstairs floor in collaboration with Storm Cloud Press, creating 2024 year of the Year of the Dragon-Mahjong inspired hats with the help of 13GALLONS, plus many more fun bits & bobs that make this one of the most fulfilling passion projects to work on.
